ENHANCING YOUR SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP
WHY Would you and your partner like to improve your sex life?
WHO/WHAT Couples with low/no sexual desire or frequency, and/or desire discrepancy (in which one partner is more interested in sex than the other) who are interested in enhancing their sexual relationship and ready to embark on a journey to enhance their sexual experiences and relationships. The process will involve group therapy over 16 hours. Limit of 6 to 8 couples/group. The content of the group is based on the work of the Optimal Sexual Experiences Research Team of the University of Ottawa, including elements and facilitating factors of optimal sexual experiences as well as research on group couples’ therapy. The groups are part of a research project studying the effectiveness of group therapy in enhancing sexual relationships. Your participation in the research project (which is optional) consists of completing questionnaires at multiple time points.
WHEN Tuesdays 5-7 pm starting September 9th, 2025 by Zoom, 16 hours over a period of 8 consecutive weeks. Initial assessment will help determine whether these groups are right for you.
GROUP THERAPISTS
Caroline Groulx is a bilingual (French/English) Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor, both in good standing. She has sixteen years of clinical experience working extensively with adults and with couples in individual and group sessions helping people find greater connection within themselves and in their relationships to experience greater life energy. She has worked with different cultural communities. Her approach to therapy is trauma informed, collaborative, integrative, rooted in an anti-oppressive perspective and culturally responsive. Her priority is in creating a safe environment to support people’s healing process while applying an experiential and embodied approach. It is a great privilege for her to work and walk alongside people navigating change and/or difficulties in their lives and she genuinely loves her work. She believes in the body’s ability to guide in the healing process by creating a safe relationship with the whole self and with others relationally.
Bonney Elliott is a dual licensed, Registered Psychotherapist and Nurse Practitioner based in Ottawa, Ontario, a Canadian Certified Counsellor/Clinical supervisor, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She has led therapy groups for women navigating postpartum issues, intimate partner violence, and sexual trauma, and facilitated support/psychoeducation groups for individuals and families impacted by cancer. Bonney currently works in private practice and group retreat settings with individuals and couples grieving loss, recovering from trauma, living with chronic and life-limiting illness, who want to live fully and experience deeper joy, authenticity, compassion, and connection with self and others. Her approach is integrative, collaborative, experiential/embodied, and relational. She values living in balance with nature, playfulness, supportive community, and present-focused practices.
YOUR COMMITMENT Attendance in this group requires a commitment to homeplay with your partner. You are free to withdraw from the research and/or the groups at any time.
